The Wood Norton Choosing Your PerfeCt Wedding Venue

W

From the moment you’ve placed that sparkly number on your left hand, you can’t help but imagine your big day! Is it modern chic, or country manor? Will Great-aunt Joyce be invited or will it be an intimate celebration of your love? Choosing your wedding venue is one of the most important decisions you’ll make when planning your big day, so The Wood Norton have put together a helpful guide to assist you…

HAVE A CLEAR VISION

Before you start searching for your perfect venue, take a moment together to brainstorm what you want. Create Pinterest boards, make notes and read blogs. Venues are very successful in selling you their vision for the big day, but remember it’s your wedding not theirs! Having a solid idea on what you both want will help you see past the sales pitch and focus on what’s important.

VENUE STAFF

There will be plenty of communication between you and your chosen wedding venue, so it’s vital that you find them easy to talk to, enthusiastic, and supportive. Ask plenty of questions and consider their willingness to help.

IT’S ALL ABOUT THE FLOW!

Depending on the number of guests invited and the size of the venue, you will need to think about the flow of traffic throughout the day. How do people get to the bar or dance floor? Where are people likely to congregate? Keep these thoughts in mind when walking around the venue. Ask for a floorplan and highlight the areas that are likely to have a lot of traffic – this will help you in setting up tables and decorations!

DO WE INVITE THE THIRD COUSINS?

Whatever the size of your party it’s imperative to have an idea on numbers before looking at venues. It can be heart-break- ing to find out later that the venue you’ve fallen in love with

/ 72

can’t facilitate your party size. Keep in mind that your guest list is largely budget led, and be honest with yourselves on what you can afford!

Theme

You might find that your chosen theme is led by the venue, whether it be modern or steeped in history. However, if you have a clear idea on a theme before starting your search keep this in mind! Considering the specifics prior to signing the contract will help avoid disappointment later on. For example, if you were hoping for candlelit romance it will be worth asking the staff if this is covered under their insurance. Perhaps you wanted strings of fairy lights across the dancefloor? Then remember to check for power sockets!!

If you are considering The Wood Norton as your Wedding Venue, then rest assured their experienced Wedding Manager, Sandie Griffiths, and her dedicated team are experienced in providing you with all the advice and support you will need, to ensure your wedding vision becomes reality.
