Honeymoon or Mini Moon?

H

If you’re planning a mini moon or a honeymoon – here’s some inspiration.

Positano, Amalfi Coast.

In years gone by, the happy couple simply planned their honeymoon, but today with work commitments and also the growing trend for holiday vouchers as a wedding gift, couples are opting to go on mini moons following their nuptials, just a short break somewhere warm or relaxed, leaving them time to plan a longer honeymoon when they have more time and collated their holiday vouchers!

Our Editor, Katie McPhilimey explains; “Brides and grooms are more committed now to delivering their own special day for guests, both financially and emotionally. They’re involved in the planning and delivery of the day which often requires time off the week of the wedding to follow through on those last minute details. They also may have exhausted their budget with those additional touches that can add up. Sometimes their holiday allocation is used up, so planning a longer honeymoon for later in the year or next year is a great idea – and gives them a chance to collate their travel vouchers if it was on their gift list. There’s also this desire to be around to enjoy the immediate excitement that follows a wedding, see those guests that have travelled from afar, so a mini moon allows them to recover from the wedding but also be around for family and friends”.

Andronis Luxury Suites – Oia Santorini

Our editor Katie, has dined at this hotel that boasts incredible views of the Caldera. The restaurant is perched on a natural cliff with panoramic views across the ocean….oh and the food is divine. Andronis Luxury Suites has two innfinity-edged swimming pools and attentive staff who offer cooling face towels and refreshments thorughout the day. A magical hideaway, you won’t be the only mini mooners – this destinaton is a place for those that have just got married and those planning to propose…and you’ll understand why when you get there!

Belmond Cipriani Venice

Be seduced again by a private boat ride across the Venetian lagoon, it’s the only way to reach the glamorous Cipriani, which sits on Giudecca Island opposite St Mark’s Square. Swim the Olympic sized pool, or just sit on the romantic terrace with a glass of champagne and breath deeply, reflecting on your special day. If it’s good enough for George Clooney when he married, then….
