TEAM KILI Meet Team Kili 2017

19 dedicated fundraisers have taken on the challenge of a lifetime – climbing Kilimanjaro for to raise money for us. They battled fatigue, extreme weather and altitude to reach the roof of Africa, raising £78,000.

James Laverick 38, Bristol Becky told me to do it!

Becky Garland 26, Bristol I like taking on new challenges, and wanted to raise as much money as possible for GWAAC.

Matt Robinson 30, Bristol It is a fantastic opportunity to raise funds for a vital charity.

Jo Markerson 24, Bristol This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, that seemed like a fantastic idea. I’m happy to support such a brilliant charity that I have seen in action.

Romy Phillips 23, Bristol I’ve never done anything like this before, and I wanted to set myself a challenge.

Lynn Rees, 49 N Somerset After the air ambulance came to my children’s school when someone was taken critically ill I realised how vital the service is, and how only public funding keeps it flying.

Emma Carter 27, Bristol I like to challenge myself and take myself out of my comfort zone. On a daily basis I am inspired by the Critical Care Team and wanted to do something more than my role within the charity.

Helen Wiles Bristol I’m a doctor at the BRI and am accompanying the expedition as the medic.

Kirsty Holburd 27 Bristol I decided to climb Kili for the challenge as I always want to push myself to my limits. It is a great opportunity to raise money for a worthy cause at the same time.

Scotty Newton, 29, Bath I was roped into it by Samantha. She asked if I wanted to do it while I was watching football – and apparently I said yes!

Samantha Newton 27, Bath I wanted to take part in an enduring challenge that will be life changing. I lost my brother in a car accident and I hope that some of the money we have raised will stop someone else’s family going through the same.

Sam Haden 28, Bristol Becky told me to!

Becca Hing 34, Fairford Two years ago my dad suffered multiple cardiac arrests in the street, without GWAAC he wouldn’t be with us today. This is my small way of giving something back.

“I wanted to take part in a challenge that will be life changing.”

Gavin Payne 28, Caldicot I wanted to challenge myself and raise money for a great cause. Also – Becky made me do it!

Vanessa Galley 26, Bristol It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity and I wanted to set myself a challenge completely outside of my comfort zone.

Mike Smith 47, Stroud GWAAC chief executive John Christensen talked me into doing it!

Sam Winfield 24, Bristol I have always been interested in challenging myself, and couldn’t think of anything better than doing it for a great cause that I or somebody I know may need.

Stuart Newman 41, Gloucs Kilimanjaro is something I have always wanted to do as I love a challenge and doing something a bit different. It is a great way to raise awareness and raise money.

Laura Durrant 31, N Somerset In my job with GWAAC I am constantly inspired by the amazing work that the crew do. I wanted to take on a challenge, and do my bit to keep them flying.
