from Kenny Chivington WME ministry partner in Kenya
“Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments. They that fear thee will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped in thy word…Let thy tender mercies come unto me, that I may live…”
Salamu! (This means “GREETINGS!” in the Swahili language) It was on January 5th
– Psalm 119:73-74 & 77 , 2015, that we trusted God to open Triumphant Grace
Academy (TGA) in Manyatta, Kenya. Manyatta is located on Kenya’s western side and north of the port city of Kisumu. In mid-January, we began classes with 42 children in Early Childhood Development (ECD). (In Kenya, the school year runs from January to November.) We prayerfully added Standard 1 (1st
Grade) in 2016 with 17 children who had graduated from ECD classes.
Our TGA children come from the 8 surrounding villages of Manyatta. Poverty affects nearly 95% of the population. In fact, for most of these children the porridge received during their day at TGA is their only daily meal. Some walk nearly 2½ miles each way to attend school.
Twenty of our children are orphans who usually live with a grandmother. Others are Muslim, but their parents gladly send them to TGA. Why? Because they have personally experienced the love of Christ
