Hearing Assistance Hear Now… Providing the Gift of Hearing


Hear Now is a national non-profi t program committed to assisting deaf and hard-of-hearing persons with limited fi nancial resources who permanently reside within the United States. The work of Hear Now is supported through the contributions of many benefactors and receives no government funding. All donations - money, time, hearing aids - allow the program to survive and give the gift of hearing domestically. Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind Tuscaloosa Regional Center (AIDB) AIDB provides comprehensive service


programs for seniors who have a hearing or vision loss. Please call 205-345-2883 for an appointment or for more information.


Services are free and are as follows:


• Adjustment and personal or family counseling for deaf, blind, hard-of-hearing and low-vision clients and their families.


• Loaner telecommunication equipment for qualifying elderly and disabled.


• Screening and testing provided, on referral, to determine eligibility and needed services.


• Case management. • Technology room for trying out devices before purchasing them (amplifi ed phones, magnifi ers, special television sets, etc.)


• Smoke Detector program – visual smoke detectors for qualifi ed clients who are hearing impaired.


• STAR program – Device demonstrations and short term loans of assistive technology.


• Daily living skills training. • Many other special programs for seniors with hearing or vision loss.
