while Zonar is using turn-by-turn directions for its 2020. Synovia, he added, is using student manifest data, with plans to incorporate turn-by-turn. “With more and more advanced technology like tablets being in- stalled on school buses, it is becom- ing more important if not man- datory for routing systems to be integrated,” Gazeley said. “Informa- tion like student manifests, planned stop information and turn-by-turn route directions are just a few of the routing components needed.” Seon is another company offering

its own color, touch-screen tab- let, the vMax Navigator. It fully integrates with the company’s vMax Compass routing software and vMax Live Plus fleet tracking. Drivers login to the table to access

their pre-trip inspection instructions as well as turn-by-turn directions

via the built-in navigation software. Data is sent by Wi-Fi or cellular sig- nals. Te tablet includes inputs for a driver panic button as well as for stop-arm deployment along with an optional RFID card reader for stu- dent tracking. It also allows students to conduct post-trip inspections and to log out to track their time and attendance. And as the tablet is from Seon, it connects to the company’s DVRs for monitoring the status of video recording.

Te company also announced last month the launch of School Bus Hub, a secure online parent notifi- cation tool for realtime notifications of on-time bus arrival. Te service integrates with vMax Compass. l

Seon’s vMax Navigator in-vehicle tablet is another one of the many integrations tools available to school bus drivers and administrators, alike, for providing drivers with turn-by-turn directions, student manifests and more.
