Starting this month, Chesapeake Public Schools in Virginia is the first school district to implement the tablet, which incorporates the company’s GPS/ AVL, Electronic Vehicle Inspection Reporting (EVIR), Z Pass student tracking, Ground Traffic Control diagnostics, two-way messaging, driver timekeeping, and more. Jimmy Brock, the district’s assis-


tant director of transportation, said Chesapeake drivers will initially use the 2020 for logging in their hours as the tablet integrates with the dis- trict’s Kronus timekeeping software and payroll system. He added that drivers, who were trained on 2020 starting Aug. 25 for the school year that begins Sept. 6, are also using


the tablet to conduct and verify their pre- and post-trip inspections via EVIR.


Later in the school year, Brock said the district is expecting to implement GPS tracking of its fleet,


The Zonar 2020 tablet is rolling out this month on Chesapeake Public School buses in Virginia to allow drivers to clock in and conduct pre- and post-trip inspections, while contractor AA Transportation in Massachusetts uses the tablet to help manage charter routes.
