The Origin of School Transportation News
WRITTEN BY BILL PAUL | EDITOR EMERITUS Through the Years:
July 1991: Bill Paul attends the 41st
Annual
Southeastern States Pupil Transportation Conference in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky and announces he has re- signed from School Bus Fleet to launch a new industry magazine.
September 1991: The first edition of School Transportation News is mailed to 18,000 sub- scribers. The magazine format is tabloid-style with news type, sim- ilar to a newspaper, differentiating it in the industry. The first issue numbered 16 pages. Bill Paul writes all the articles and Colette Paul lays them out and places ads using an i386 computer with floppy disk drive and a thermal printer.

1992: School Transpor- tation News publishes an electronic bulletin board, a precursor of
stnonline.com. As a model, Bill Paul draws from a similar bulletin board to one developed by the American Public Transportation Associa- tion, for which he was a board member.
