Welcome...

Love is in the air, or so everyone is telling us in the run up to Valentine’s Day. As the high street is filled with hearts, roses and cupids, I do hope that you are maximising on this opportunity in your salon.

In fact, I hope that by now you will have drawn up your entire marketing plan for 2016 based not only around treatment launches and predicted trends, but seasonal occasions too.

Melissa Dennis Irish Beauty Editor

Once you’ve established the events you plan to link promotions to (Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Easter, even Grandparent’s Day and of course Christmas), think about what treatments and

packages you can tailor around these themes. Be creative; this is about maximising the services and treatments you already offer whilst taking on a few complementary lines.

Next, work backwards through your calendar to work out when and how you are going to start marketing your promotion. Think about traditional marketing materials such as flyers, in-salon advertising and window dressings and allocate a budget. Then, consider digital marketing such as client emails, updates on your website, social media activity etc; this will have less of an up-front cost however you should take into account how much your time is worth. Could this be a job you allocate to your receptionist or a junior member of the team?

A marketing plan is not something you should be scared or apprehensive about creating, it’s simply about good planning. As I said before, be imaginative with the services you already offer and open your salon to a whole new client base.

With best wishes,
