The $100,000 Razor es,
Y you read that correctly —
$100,000 for a razor. That really might be “the best a man can get.”
Comparing the leap in razor technology to the jump from CB radios to the iPhone, the Portland, Ore.-based company Zafi rro has created only 99 of its iridium razors with white sapphire blades that are 5,000 times thinner than a human hair and last 10 years. The handle is made of iridium, the company says, which comes from meteorites, and
is 10 times more rare than platinum. But you’ll fi nd some platinum on these razors, too — in the screws. And with the purchase, the company offers 10 years of servicing and even monogramming. But will anyone buy one? Not yet, Zafi rro’s owner, Hayden Hamilton, told The Oregonian. But the com- pany has scored lots of buzz for its innova- tive technology and also for rattling the dis- posable razor industry’s cage. And what’s the payback for publicity? Priceless.
