Solar Sidewalk Missouri Debuts Energy-Generating Pavers
Missouri is rolling out a set of energy-generat- ing photovoltaic pavers along a section of the iconic Route 66 high- way in a sidewalk pilot project—the first on a public right of way—in the U.S. The street pav-
ers were developed by Solar Roadways, a company created by inventors Scott and Julie Brusaw, which raised more than $2.2 million in crowdfunding in 2014 to bring their technol- ogy to market. The Brusaws claim that replacing all of America’s roads and parking lots with their solar pavers would generate more than three times what the country consumed in electricity in 2009. The Missouri Department of Transportation considered
their own crowdfunding campaign to support their energy experiment; plans called for the hexagonal solar panels to be fully installed and operational by the end of this year.

Greening Planet Satellites Reveal Unexpected Plant Growth
The study Greening of the Earth and its Drivers, published by an international team in the journal Nature Climate Change, shows significant greening of a quarter to one-half of the Earth’s vegetated lands based on satellite data from the past 33 years. This represents an increase in leaves on plants and trees that produce sugars using sunlight energy to mix atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2

fter 25 years’ experience in medical practice and research, Dr. Hannah Hershoff decided to leave her lucrative medical doctor career to create healing
jewelry. A phone chat with a cousin who took a trip from
China totally changed Dr. Hershoff’s life. Dr. Hershoff learned that the mystical stones from a remote area of Southeast China near her hometown have incredible spiritual healing properties. After extensive research, Dr. Hershoff discovered that the key element of the stones is a crystalline mineral, Kaolin, formed millions of years ago. During a long process using local water, wood and fire
) with water and nutrients from the soil.
These sugars are the source of food, fiber and fuel for life on Earth. More sugars are produced when there is more
of this greenhouse gas in the air in a process called CO2 fertilization. About 85 percent of the Earth’s land is free of ice and
covered by vegetation, currently encompassing 32 percent of the planet’s total surface area. Lead author Dr. Zaichun Zhu, a researcher from Peking University, in China, states, “The greening over the past 33 years reported in this study is equivalent to adding a green continent about two times the size of mainland USA, and has the ability to fundamentally change the cycling of water and carbon in the climate sys- tem.” The effect may serve as a carbon sink to help counter climate change.

in a special kiln, the stones not only permanently formed their gorgeous colors and shine but also gained their Five- Element natural energy. About 2,000 years ago, the Chinese royal family exclusively owned the mines. This information excited Dr. Hershoff enormously. She further consulted with spiritual healers and decided to test the healing effects of the stones. Dr. Hershoff created her bracelets with these healing stones and gifted or sold to women with various levels of spirituality. A few weeks after wearing these eye- catching bracelets, three out of four women reported they gained confidence, improved their self- image, sensed more connections to loved ones, and experienced a reduction in anxiety. A year later, Dr. Hershoff and her husband started a company and named their kaolin-comprised pieces Sara Yo Healing Stones. Dr. Hershoff says: “I am so glad I have made this career change decision, as each day I learn more about how Sara Yo helps women physically and emotionally. I am so fortunate to do something I am extremely passionate about!”
