We were stunned to hear of his sudden passing on 30th August. A much-loved friend and col- league, Richard was one of the quietly confident guys, an accomplished driver and motorcyclist, he was also a talented and thoughtful engineer. He spent many hours working hard with the team in the Car Rides workshop at Brooklands. He was also a volunteer at The New Glyn Valley Tramway and Industrial Heritage Trust where he was helping to restore a railway and its rolling stock.

A vegetarian, Richard would always have his trademark cheese and tomato sandwich at lunchtime, a trait which never varied. He was just a lovely bloke, dependable, giving, generous with his time and expertise, one of life’s gentlemen. You could not wish to meet a kinder, more thoughtful, more decent friend.

It’s not just what we think, this is what his FILMING

passengers thought of him – from our Comments Book over just two days this summer:

‘Richard took me high on the Banking – very exciting – if a bit scary!’ ‘Richard was an excellent driver.’ ‘Amazing – such fun! Thank you Richard.’ ‘Richard is an amazing chap, the boys had a great time. Thank you xxx.’ ‘Richard was fantastic – we absolutely loved it and will be going again.’ ‘Smashing time. Richard was fab.’ ‘Perfect for a four-year-old's birthday treat.’

Richard Andrews – friend, colleague, mate, driver, motorcyclist, engineer, thoroughly good Brooklands bloke. 1945 to 2016 RIP.
