Wine & Food Festival In what has become one of the West Coast’s premier wine, beer, spirits and gourmet food events, the 13th Annual San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival offers up more than 60, epic, luxury wine and food events from Sunday, November 13 through Sunday, November 20. Held in multiple locations throughout San Diego, epicurean experiences pepper the week-long festival that celebrates San Diego’s vibrant culinary community: Wine and cooking classes, celebrity chef dinners and multiple tasting events ranging from lessons in mixology to a rough and tumble, fish taco competition. Festival co-producer Michelle Metter says, “San Diego is home to some of the nation’s finest breweries, restaurants, chefs and sommeliers. Foodie Intuition: A Visual & Culinary


Exploration of the Senses Vanguard Culture has been hosting intimate, artsy evenings that celebrate delicious food and the creative soul. Called Foodie Soirées, events are typically held in private homes of artists, art collectors and arts patrons and feature cutting-edge art installations; live performances by some of the region’s best dancers, musicians, singers and actors; tours of private art collec- tions; chef demonstrations and more. This time around they are taking it to a whole new level by introducing Foodie Intuition: A Visual & Culinary Exploration of the Senses, taking place onSaturday, November 5 at


Sparks Gallery, 530 6th Avenue. Six amazing chefs will be tasked with creating a dish inspired by the work of featured artists: Live dance by Aurora Lagatutta and an immersive tango experience by Patricia Becker and Marc Hussner from Urban Tango (urban-tango.com) and PHYSIQUE: an exhibition exploring the human form as a landscape, featuring paintings, photography and sculpture by San Diego artists. Huneeus Family Wineries Pala Casino’s underground wine cave is the location for a spectacular evening of food and wine featuring the famed Huneeus Family Wineries onThursday, No- vember 10. Guests will enjoy a five-course dinner with wine pairings from the vintner’s international portfolio of fine wines from the family’s Quintessa Estate in the Rutherford District of Napa Valley. San Diego Beer Week Eight years and counting… And okay, it’s a little more than a week long, but who’s counting? San Diego Beer Week organizers are and lucky for us, the numbers are sweet and continue to grow, right along with the brew and the many brewers involved. Taking place from Friday, November 4 through Sunday, November 13, more than 100 breweries from across San Diego County come together to celebrate everything brewed with more than 500 beer-centric events that stretch over 10 days. The signature kickoff event for the week is the 14th Annual Guild Fest taking place on San Diego’s Broadway PierFriday and Saturday, November 4 and 5, it’s your chance to rub elbows with many of the city’s award-winning brewers. SAN DIEGO & LOS ANGELES:


STARS of Cabernet Wine LA has been showcasing collectable Cabernet and the local category’s best producers, during their Annual STARS of Cabernet at The Peninsula Beverly Hills in Los Angeles for eight years running. For 2016, organizer’s decided that one Cab event just wasn’t enough to satisfy SoCal’s cravings, so they have added another at San Diego’s Fairmont Grand Del Mar. Join them onWednesday, November 9 in San Diego and onThursday, November 10in Los Angeles, for an opportunity to meet the owners, winemakers and executives at both “STAR-studded” events. Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy unlimited wine tasting, tray passed hors d’oeuvres and assorted breads, cheeses and chocolates. There will be a live auction at both events, with 100 percent of proceeds going to STARS long-time beneficiary, the TJ Martell Foundation, a 501c3 charity that funds childrens cancer research.
