eating out EXPERIENCE CTHE by billy nordmeier

Looking for a cool, stimulating experience, practically in your backyard? Then head over to Pala Casino. Already well known for being one of the top destinations for gaming, entertainment and world-class spa experiences, the Pala team has reinvented their already robust dining experiences with The Cave. Once known as Mama’s Cucina Italiana, dining at The Cave

was an incredibly refreshing, unique and delicious experience! The restaurant boasts one of the only subterranean wine caves in Southern California and this aspect is the ultimate lounge. Every weekend features sexy, acoustic sets by a rotating lineup of local artists, that at times, turns into an intimate VIP venue when top notch acts come to perform at the Starlight Theatre. With over

500 bottles of wine to choose from, rich, black leather upholstery and beautiful stonework details, there’s really no need to ever leave this underground sanctuary!

We did leave the sultry sounds of the acoustic guitar behind, only for a moment and in order to dine in the restaurant proper upstairs. The warm reception from the host team already made us feel like we were being welcomed into someone’s home. My guest and I were seated in the Private Dining room overlooking the entrance to the outdoor Starlight Theatre, an impressive 2,400 square foot, top-talent-worthy amphitheatre open to the sky. Coincidentally, the theatre is built over the underground Wine Cave, music and wine have a special connection here it seems. Dining accommodations are top notch, the private dining room can easily

seat up to 10 people for a cozy dinner party with friends. For myself, my guest and our two hosts, it was a spacious and lavish table. Throughout the evening, Sommelier and Food and Beverage Operations Manager, Steven Whisler’s wine selections, were a perfect complement to every stage of our dining experience. The extensive list features wines from across California from iconic producers to lovingly crafted wines from small family-owned wineries.
