24K MAGIC Bruno Mars An entertainer of the first caliber, Bruno Mars combines all the funk and soul of James Brown with the sincerity and style of Michael Jackson. His third CD’s opening single and the title of his latest work is24K Magic. Man, does it jump, sizzle and pop with musical energy like a chestnut on an open fire. Mars has the beats and groove to bring out the “great” in good times. It’s no doubt that his hits will keep coming because of his remarkable showmanship and skill. Out November 18.

LOVE IS A DRAG Back in 1962, homosexuality was considered a mental illness. Coming out without a doubt was not an option. Under the fake label of Lace Records, a group of men released a selection of songs that addressed the pronouns of love; male to male. Re-issued after 54 years, singer Gene Howard though straight, serenaded many the hearts of gay men by recording songs including “Lover Man,” “The Man I Love” and “The Boy Next Door.” Truly a cultural bombshell which has sprung out of the closet now.

LAZY EYE Imagine being contacted by an ex-lover after fifteen years and actually wanting to see him again. All the emotional turmoil of memories; both good and bad come to the surface along with the realities of the present, along with a surprising twist in Lazy Eye. The film is a solid relationship drama skillfully written and directed by Tim Kirkman. The two male leads are truly realistic and honestly portrayed. Both men exude a natural chemistry together and present a riveting study of character of emotions.

SHARED ROOMS A light hearted gay comedy with a dash of drama, Shared Rooms zeros in on the Christmas and New Year holiday week and three different gay lifestyles ranging from two different single gay men to the married gay couple. The situations swerve between sexual escapades, roommates discovering love and gays becoming parents. Though at times, too stereotypical and somewhat campy, there is a diversity of freedom and situational comedy to be found for a fun diversion for little over an hour.

Out November 15.

ESTEROS An Argentine film subtitled in English, Esteros is a poetic look at two childhood friends who reunite by chance and how each of them rekindle a definite attraction to each other as grown men. Beautifully realized and envisioned by director Papu Curotto, the film is rich in emotional vibrancy and memory as the story shifts between the present and the flashbacks of their relationship as friends in the past. Actors Ignacio Rogers and Esteban Masturini present finely nuanced performances which delicately unfold within this

romantic drama. Out November 15.
