Because of your support of the OES Fund, we were able to offer:
SCIENCE “From the brilliantly coordinated LEGO Physics program in the Lower School to the numerous research opportunities in the Upper School, there hasn’t been a single year when I haven’t felt intellectually stimulated and challenged by OES’s science program.” – Chandler W. ’17
• State-of-the-art research labs, uncommon among many secondary school science programs. • Scientific discoveries in the woods, wetlands, and across “the lab” of our campus environment. • One of the best Pre-K–12 science programs in the country, consistently able to nurture award-winning student research as well as critical thinking and research skills for all students.
ATHLETICS “OES Fund support means every student has the opportunity to develop team and leadership skills through our no-cut policy.” – Dennis Sullivan, OES Athletic Director
• An athletic program that for decades has been dedicated to physical education for all students and a no-cut policy, while still achieving excellence on and off the field.
• Resources to mow 2.5 acres of sports fields twice a week used by a range of excellent teams, such as girls’ varsity soccer, who were this year’s state champions.
LIBRARIES “When I was at OES, libraries were only about books. For my daughter, Sally, and her classmates, libraries are about the open exchange of information . . . designed to encourage students to interact with the library rather than just go to the library.” – Dan Drinkward ’95,Trustee, and father of Sally ’29
• The addition of more than 1,500 books to three libraries, giving our students access to the most up-to-date research information—as well as books to read for fun.
• Subscriptions to 26,000 online academic journals and magazines through databases supporting student research.
THE ARTS
“Thanks to the OES Fund, we continue to grow a program that brings performances to life and art to every student on campus.” – Margaret Synan-Russell, 2015 Oregon Primary Art Educator of the Year, OES Visual and Performing Arts Chair
• Crowd-wowing productions of Medea, Charley’s Aunt, and the 12th annual One Act Plays. • Music classes for 100% of students in grades Pre-K–7. • A comprehensive visual, performing, and literary arts education for every grade.
