for the Players Theatre Club to be at the WI Hall at 3.30pm on Satur- day, October 29. Details of ticket availability are

available via the Bearsted Parish Council website in the events sec- tion, where there is a link or by con- tacting the clerk for an application form.

BINS for dog mess are to be phased out across the borough. These will be replaced with “co- mingle” receptacles but the exact location of these is still under consul- tation. Parish coun-

Classic cars return to Green

A DATE has been set for next year’s Classic Car Rally on Bearsted Green. It will be held on July 30, providing the date does not clash with the

cricket club’s fixture list. The 2016 event attracted hundreds of vintage and classic cars from around the world and thousands of visitors.

not issue paper versions resulted in about a third being sold with under a month to go. The popular event has a maxi-

mum capacity of about 4,000 and a council spokesman reckons that could easily be reached, given the current demand. Councillor Paul Young said: “Selling the tickets online is prov- ing very popular. With about a month to go we have already sold way more thanwe have done at the same stage in previous years. “Given that the majority of ticket

sales are in the final week, this is most encouraging. “We are advising people to buy

their tickets well in advance online to avoid the queues on the night

and make sure they get in, aswe do have a capacity of 4,000.” More than 80 family ticketswere

sold by October 11. A £15 family tickets allows two

adults and two children or one adult and three children. Children are 16 and under. Adults (over 16) are to be charged £6. Parish clerk Michelle Rumble

told members there had been “no complaints” from members of the public about the online-only strat- egy.

Cllr Richard Ash said late sales

were usually down to peoplewait- ing see what the weather might hold before making their purchase. The event, which starts at 6pm on

November 4, is, according to the parish council, “always a fantastic

display from Phoenix Fireworks and with burgers, hotdogs, soup, hot and cold drinks and even glo- sticks available from the Scouts”. Gates open at 6 pm and the dis-

play starts at 7.30 and lasts about 20-30 minutes. Last entry is at 7.15pm for safety reasons. Note: no personal fireworks, sparklers or glassware are permit- ted on site. Entrance will also be disallowed for unaccompanied groups of under 16s. All must be with a responsible adult. Church Lane will be closed so there will be no access to the car park. Pedes- trian entry is from Cross Keys or Church Landway. Tickets are available online at www.wegottickets.com/Bearsted- ParishCouncil.

national, regional and local plans. The public meeting aims to ex-

plain why Bearsted is adopting a neighbourhood plan, the commu- nity benefits, time scales and to canvass input from residents. A small steering group already

exists to drive the plan forward, but spokesman Cllr Paul Young says he would like to get “as many people as possible involved from the local community”. Cllr Young added: “Aneighbour-

hood plan cannot stop develop- ment, as this is led by Maidstone Borough Council’s Local Plan, but it does give us the opportunity to influence what type of develop- ment and where, plus the plan can include more aspects of life.” Aswell as amain steering group, volunteers will be needed to con- duct parishwalks to identify future possibilities, liaising with external partners aswell as looking at traffic and development issues, he said.
