Teaching Model


The motto for The Pioneer Academy is ‘‘… and the main thing is learning.’’ All members of staff aim to promote an extraordinary school day to develop independence and creativity; our learning and teaching policy has been developed to translate this into practice, for all staff and children. We communicate our motto to children via two storybooks – ‘Something Else’ by Kathryn Cave and Chris Riddell, and ‘Once Upon An Ordinary School Day’ by Colin McNaughton and Satoshi Kitamura.


The motto defines successful learning and is based on extensive research by Mike Hughes into what motivates children and raises standards.
