Curriculum Strategy

Our schools use the International Primary Curriculum (IPC); learning from the perspective of other people in other countries. IPC ensures rigorous learning and helps teachers to make all learning exciting, active and meaningful for their children. Learning with IPC enables a global approach, helping children to connect their learning to where they are living now, as well as looking at learning from the perspective of other people in other countries. The IPC is used by schools in more than 80 countries worldwide. This is both relevant and motivating to a rich and diverse school community. The IPC in action provides ‘Great Learning, Great Teaching and Great Fun.’

Core subject leaders across the Academy work together to develop schemes of work that match the children’s needs within their schools. These schemes reduce the workload for our teachers and enable rapid progress for all our pupils.

The curriculum inspires and motivates children, placing them at the heart of the learning process through a bespoke ‘Teaching Model’. The Teaching Model, which is rooted firmly in the analysis of effective learning and teaching, translates the Trust’s Mantra into classroom practice. This Model has been developed and embedded to provide consistency and continuity for children. Subject Leaders work in partnership across the schools to ensure continued development of our curriculum guaranteeing the very best learning opportunities.

The Pioneer Academy is committed to the highest quality teaching in the Foundation Subjects and promotes the use of specialist teachers to ensure a broad and balanced curriculum. Specialist PE, Art, Music, Computing and MfL teachers work in some of our schools enabling children to have weekly, teaching in all subjects.
