we’re doing very well. But there comes a point where it’s not your choice anymore—growth is demanding the change, and innovation is leading the way.” Fillol admits that, as with other parts of life and industry, some
folks are reluctant to change—i.e., some companies like the old way. Tey want to use the old hooks. “But what we’ve consistently found is that, with these folks, once they use our product(s), they start to change their minds—they want to continue using it.” Elebia products have found firm footing in the U.S.—from steel to energy to aerospace. “We focused early on in steel in the U.S.,” explained Fillol, “because we had a local partner in the industry. Handling electrodes in the steel industry is very dangerous and we were a great fit for that. Very soon, we moved to steel mills and processing, and soon after, to nuclear, energy, and later to Boeing.” Without a doubt, the future is bright for Elebia. As one would imagine, it includes more innovation, more problem solving, and more growth. “Everyone talks about smart factories,” said Fillol. “We want to provide the smart hooks—able to connect and disconnect loads without any handling—but also provide information to the factory. Right now, when a crane is moving a load, it doesn’t know what it’s moving. With Elebia hooks, it has a brain. We take it a step farther—users now know what they’re moving. And soon, we’ll
“WE’RE AIMING TO CREATE THE CRANE HOOK OF THE FUTURE. NO LONGER WILL IT BE THE ‘DUMB’ PART OF THE LOAD. IT WILL BE SMART – GATHERING DATA, RETURNING DATA – WHICH IS SO IMPORTANT IN INDUSTRIES LIKE NUCLEAR, HOT PLANTS, WATER TREATMENT, CONSTRUCTION, AND MANY MORE.” – ELEBIA CEO AND FOUNDER OSCAR FILLOL
provide an RFID tag system. We’re in the second year of a three-year project. Tis will be another game-changing innovation—connecting the load to the cloud for the first time, all through the hook, which will house all possible information and allow for the closed loop within the smart factory.” y
