says Henley. “We’re one of only a few companies in the US that can offer a full line of high performance ropes as well as the service for installing them. We’re covering close to 30 states doing windfarms and big construction projects. We’re different because few rigging companies can install ropes, and most installation companies don’t sell them. We’ve become sort of a specialized provider by offering both these goods and these services simultaneously.” Another new offering from Horizon is their mobile proof testing machine – brand new, game- changing gear that represents another innovative solution for Horizon’s customers. It’s a great tool especially for oil and gas,” says
Henley. “We’ve always been willing to think outside the box to develop new equipment and try new things. With this new machine our clients can do their testing right at a worksite. It allows our clients to test their slings at the job, and to make sure that everything in the field is properly accounted for. We can check a whole site with one day of work which is only one day of downtime for a project as opposed to three. Te mobile tester was made for Horizon by Chant Engineering. “Years ago people would come to us and ask if we could build them a bed for testing to take on the job site. We’d build a bed, leave the legs off put it on a trailer and ship it to the client,” says Patrick Shire, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Chant. “Well one day Phil Chant was looking at a new bed we were making and he realized that the bed itself was already its own trailer. We added a gooseneck and a wheel kit, so that testing could be integrated with the other equipment right at the job s ite. Horizon’s machine is our latest build.”

“Typically we build custom
machinery all the time. When a client approaches us, pretty much no matter what they have in mind, we’ll say, ‘Sure. We can do that,’” says Shire. “In our mailers and brochures it literally says ‘If you can imagine it, we can build it,’ so that’s how we approach all of the challenges that our clients present to us. People wanted the ability to do mobile proof testing and we figured out how to take that from the idea stage to the actual worksite. Horizon’s machine was pretty much custom built to order. It’s a 300,000 capacity machine with an overall length of 48 feet. It has a 30,000 low load assembly, and it’s run by a portable generator and a hydraulic power unit. It also features a wire rope grip.” Te mobile unit is another example of Horizon’s commitment to customer service. “Te importance of this kind of testing when we’re
