Horizon’s extensive inventory means that customer orders can be tailored to meet the specific demands of any number of diverse, specialized industries from oil and gas to transport, construction, and manufacturing. Horizon’s expert staff, their commitment to excellence and their 20 mobile spooling units also provide a range of services to this same extensive set of industries. “Bruce Miller is the owner and founder. He started the business over 30 years ago,” says Tyler Henley, from Horizon’s corporate sales team. “We started in the service business working on wireline trucks and well service rigs. We’d service and supply wire line trucks – we’d bring them in and install the cable. Tat’s how the business was started and founded. In the last 5 to 6 years we’ve expanded into the rigging side. Now we’re offering high performance ropes and trying to further diversify outside of oil and gas.” Of course decades in business means that Horizon has celebrated the best of times and survived


the worst of times through fluctuations in the fossil fuel market, but their recent aggressive sales and dynamic reach into untapped industries and services has seen the company growing bigger, stronger and smarter.


“We really struggled in 2008 and 2009 when oil and gas went down,” says Henley. “We got through it because we’re a service related company connected to production more than drilling. During the last downturn we hired a lot of new sales people and connected with a lot of new clients. We were really aggressive at getting new customers and diversifying our line. Now we supply and service across a variety of different industries: we’re working with large cranes and we sell OEM ropes for big crawler cranes in the wind energy market. Tis new diversity really helped us to weather the storm.”


Te key players at Horizon include owner and


founder Bruce Miller, the man who saw that the oil and construction industries would be better served by a one- stop-shop that could furnish both supplies and services. Horizon’s Operations Manager, Shane Risley, oversees supplies and services across Horizon’s outposts ensuring that every piece of gear they sell and every service they offer represents the highest value in the industry, making the hard jobs in tough trades easier, faster, safer and more profitable.


An average day at one of Horizon’s outposts would likely find crews working with oil and gas contractors at a drilling site or working with oil field service companies helping to maintain producing wells. Te company is also in demand at the job sites of general construction projects of all sizes, and at factories both big and small. From rising cranes to spinning wind farms, Horizon’s goods and services are playing a big role in building booms and energy solution strategies across the country,
