People reported the benefits of owning their own home as
- being able to choose who they live with - Educational stability - Maintenance and ability to decorate - Being near wider family - Being part of a civilian community
People reported the disadvantages as
- Away from serving person - Away from military community - Access to Community Support
To have my adult children live with me.
Like the fact that you have the freedom to come and go without others constantly watching where you have been and what you have bought
Live near amenities which we like/find useful. Enjoy a social and community circle, which isn’t just tied to the military. Live away from work - can be claustrophobic
General stability, not being left alone with no support for long periods of time (deployment/ exercises), being able to pursue my own career and cheaper living costs.
Living in your own property can make separation and moving on posting extremely stressful and difficult and on some cases impossible to continue.
