THE OLD SCHOOL HOUSE - HEADCORN
On 26th September staff from The Old School House in Headcorn, together with 8 other early years and childcare settings from Kent, gathered for the Threads of Success Improvement and Achievement Award ceremony at The Village Hotel in Maidstone. Nursery staff were delighted to have achieved the prestigious Kent award.
The Threads of Success Improvement and Achievement Award is a quality assurance scheme that enables practitioners to evaluate and reflect on their own practice to bring about quality continuous improvement in their own setting and thus improve the life chances of Kent’s youngest children.
The scheme allows teams to evaluate their own practice using action research and a variety of audit tools to evaluate the impact of the resulting changes made for the children in the setting. The Old School House focused on ‘Engaging Boys’, as this is currently a national agenda item.
The Threads of Success Award follows on from the highly successful Kent Quality Mark (KQM) which The Old School House has held since 2010. The contribution of high quality early years experiences is critical to ensure the best outcomes for children as they reach the end of their Reception year in school and develop their readiness as lifelong learners.
