Now Jack aims for world title
SNODLAND-born Jack Green has his sights set on a world champi- onship medal after twice missing out on a gong at Rio. The 24-year-old said he would
have given anything to run in the Rio relay final from which his team were disqualified. Jack, pictured, was chosen to run
in the Olympic 400 metres hurdles relay final. His team appeared to qualify, finishing fourth in the semi- final, but Matt Hudson-Smith was judged to have his foot on the red line. The GB team was disqualified, leaving Brazil to go through to the final. There were seven members in the Great Britain team and Jack's nan, Betty Colyer of Veles Road, Snodland, said Jack was due to run in the 400 metres final. Betty said Jack spoke to her every
day . "We have a very close relation- ship and I amtremendously proud of him, " she added. "The world championships will be in London next year and that is his next goal." Jack, who will start training again
in October for next season, tweeted: “Would’ve given anything to be in that relay final this evening. Big love
to our relay squad, Bring on Lon- don!”
Earlier, he said hewas “absolutely gutted” after failing to win a place in the 400m hurdles final. He was in contention for a finals place as he rounded the final bend in his semi- final, but clattered the eighth barrier. Jack said: “Harsh world of sport – miss a stride and ruin an Olympic dream.” Four years ago, he missed out on
an Olympic finals place when he fell at the third hurdle in the semis. He helped Team GB claim fourth in the 400m relay at London 2012 and bronze at the European champi- onships this summer. Jack lived inWarnett Court, Snod-
land andnowlives with his mother, Nikki, in Cheriton, near Folkestone.

rent mood, adding: “Iamsure savvy local councils will take advantage of the feel-good factor and offer something different that will help improve the physical activity of their communities. “But forme, whenthe final curtain closes on Rio2016at the end of the Par- alympics I will ensure all involved in sport in this country will work hard to keep themomentumup, using the uniquepower of sport to benefit asmany people’s lives as possible.”
