Clerk’s report Councillor Lain-Rose and the parish office had tried to get a plan of the land up for sale at The Parade and a response as awaited. TaylorWimpey had said the suggested relocation of the Marden Road crossing to the southern end of Northdown had been rejected by KCC so the proposed location would revert to the west of the current temporary site. Wimpey Field Cllr Peter Spearink said TaylorWimpey had cut paths and undertaken planting around the pond. He and Cllr Riordan had met with the Twig Group and discussed the proposed clearance work aswell as the relocation of the hibernaculum;cultivation, stone- picking, gardening and seeding of the grassed area and installation of a footpath. More volunteers would be useful. Crossroads Cllr Perry urged interested residents to send in their comments to MBC on the proposals for the A229- Marden Road- Headcorn Road crossroads. Jubilee Field Cllr Riordan had been to the management commiee meeting and there were concerns about funding and maintenance costs. The mower needed servicing and the pavilion lights needed aention. New housing Before the meeting a resident voiced her concern about the amount of new housing in the village. Therewas a discussion about the Maidstone Local Plan and the Staplehurst Neighbourhood Plan.

Focus parked in the road in Stilebridge Lane, Marden. Cashwas stolen when a vehicle parked
in Oak Lane. Headcornwas broken into. Itemswere removed from a garden in
Bell Lane, Staplehurst. A satnavwas taken when thieves broke
into a vehicle in Brishing Lane, Park Wood. The window of a caravan parked on a
drive in South Lane, Suon Valencewas smashed. A treewas damaged in a garden in
Queen Elizabeth Square, Park Wood. A blueBMW320 W7*** was stolen from a driveway in Jeffery Close, Staplehurst.

Assistant clerk Itwas agreed that the clerk should progress the procedure to employ an assistant clerk for 10 hours aweek. If the clerkwas employed in September it was agreed that the resulting budget overspend be taken from the contingency. Fields in Trust The parish council decided to join this organisation at a cost of £50 per year. War memorial play area The clerk had asked for a quote for rabbit-proof fencing. The Maidstone Council report said everything was low risk and satisfactory. GroundsmanA request had been received from the groundsman for three years’ work at a cost of £800, which would include work on both pitches. Itwas decided that as only one pitch had been maintained that they would propose £400 and an invoice should be received annually. PavilionA builder had confirmed that the pavilionwas not worth refurbishing and needed to be replaced. The commiee proposed that it be replaced. Itwas proposed that football fees be waived to enable the teams to pay for temporary changing facilities. However, following investigation it was decided the costwas prohibitive. Cllr Riden would contact Hunton Parish Council to arrange to visit their new pavilion. In the meantime it had been confirmed that the floorwas safe for teams to change, but itwas decided to reduce the rent as showering facilitieswere not available. Harbour play area The MBC report said all was low risk and satisfactory. AllotmentsA leer had been received from an allotment holder regarding the condition of some of the allotments and possibleways forward. Two allotment holders at Bowhalls had quit following leers from the clerk regarding plots not being worked. Proposed crossing The installation of the
crossing had started. The footpath was planned for September/October.
Marden
HedgerowsA member of the public asked how often hedgerowswere monitored by councillors. Manywere said to be overgrowing the pavement, with brambles and ivy growing in the verges. Itwas normal practice to report these issues direct to Kent Highways. Crime report PCSOwas not at the meeting but provided the crime figures. There had been three crimes since the last meeting: a theft from a dwelling, a burglary other than a dwelling and a theft from a person. A smell of cannabiswas reported at the park at Napoleon Drive. Local needs housing Details had been received from the planning inspectorate who had granted permission for the development on the land next to Highfield House, Maidstone Road. Newsleer Thiswas almost ready for printing. The assistant clerk had contacted a local company regarding costs for franking andwas asked to look out for other options. Parish council action plan Cllr Adam asked that fingerpost signs and railway station improvements be added to the plan. New play equipment for Napoleon Drive would also be added and the Memorial Hall improvements. Ride-on mower Therewas a discussion regarding the purchase of a new or second- hand ride-on mower. Several quotations had been received, together with an offer from Cllr Childs whowas selling his mower. Itwas decided to defer the decision until more informationwas available. Tree pit The cost of a tree pit in the High Street and the planting of a replacement tree was put at £145.66. Itwas unanimously agreed to pay for it.

frame and slidewere stolen from a garden in Suon Road, Langley. A van parked in a communal car park in Bicknor Road, Park Woodwas broken into and toolswere stolen. Thieves took a small trailer from a commercial premises in Heath Road,West Farleigh. On Linton Hill, a heavy statue was
stolen from a garden. Damagewas caused to a vehicle in
Forsham Lane, Suon Valence. The door fiingwas damaged at an allotment shed inWesterhill Road, Coxheath. Plants were removed in Packham Drive, Marden. A Toyota RAV4 parked in Bathurst Road, Staplehurst had a window smashed. A shedwas broken into in Cranbrook
Road, Staplehurst. In Sweetlands Lane, Staplehurst, the number plateswere stolen from a Citroen car parked in a driveway. A vehicle parked in Pinnock Lane, Staplehurstwas taken without consent.
