It may be September now but Summer is not quite over – so while the weather is still warm, why not get out and about and visit some of the great pubs and restaurants that your local area has to offer.
Just eight miles from Maidstone you’ll discover The listed West End Tavern so named because it lies in the part of Marden known as the West End. Exposed beams and an inglenook fireplace make this a real haven. In summer, the garden is filled with diners and drinkers making the most of the sunshine. The menu is seasonal, concise and carefully considered. The specials board features dishes such as pan-fried duck with cashews, or bacon and onion pudding. Sunday lunch with crispy roasties, includes your own jug of gravy; all laid out on the table to share, just as you would at home.
The Woolpack Inn is a family- friendly country pub in the quiet village of Benover, with a good selection of cask beers, fine wines, and home-cooked food. With old- world decor and a log fire, this historic pub has a traditional warm and friendly feel, with beautiful
gardens and a play area. The varied menu features local top quality meat and fish, from hearty Sunday roasts and steak and ale pie, to vegetarian dishes, sandwiches and seafood suppers, with a good selection of desserts. The Woolpack Inn is also the perfect spot for passing cyclists and ramblers.
It seems too early to plan for Christmas when we are enjoying such glorious sunshine and hopefully, this will roll into an Indian Summer! In September, the Krishna Indian Restaurant, Headcorn is planning two events. On Saturday 10 September a Tapas & Cocktails Night - £22. When a feast of tasting dishes will be served, including Indian street food, washed down with delicious cocktails. On Saturday 24 September there’s a Fresh Fish Night - £20. …and then Christmas will be here before you know it!
