Seat safety for summer!
Car seat safety is a crucial aspect of ensuring your child is safe when travelling. However, it can be confusing trying to figure how to safely secure your child in the car. Here, Katie Hilton, iCandy Expert Midwife and Health Visitor, shares the top ten mistakes parents make most often and how to avoid them!

Using a car seat is a requirement by law. All children in either the front or rear of a vehicle must use the correct car seat for their age or weight until they are either 135cm in height or twelve years old and it is the driver's responsibility to ensure that children under the age of fourteen are properly belted in. Choose a seat that you find convenient to use and get into the habit of buckling up your child.

Using a secondhand seat Tat car seat you recently purchased off eBay for a fraction of the price of a brand new one may seem like an amazing bargain, but it might not be safe. Te same applies to an older model that may have been used with other children in your family. Tere could potentially be important parts missing and you will most likely not have the manufacturers' instructions. It may even have been involved in an accident and fall short of safety standards. If you have no option but to use a secondhand car seat, ensure it comes complete with original manufacturers instructions or contact them
to ask for a new copy, make sure you have all parts, it has never been recalled or involved in an accident and try to use a car seat that is less than five years old.
Turning your child forward
