A third of children fearful of sleepovers

A new report released by Ferring Pharmaceuticals has revealed that 46 per cent of parents admit their child is still wetting the bed at night when they have started reception class, yet only nine per cent would discuss this with their friends and other parents. Te research also shows that one in five parents believe their children would try to hide it if they wet the bed to avoid personal embarrassment, with this figure rising to a staggering 26 per cent for children aged between fiſteen and 18. Wetting the bed can be more detrimental than just personal embarrassment to a child, as 29 per cent of parents admitted their child would not want to take part in school trips or social activities, such as sleepovers, if they wet the bed, with nearly a quarter (22 per cent) believing it could have a very negative effect on the child’s confidence whilst at school.
