Joe Dillard Mountain Home is a first-class


city with a mayor/council form of government. It is divided into four wards with two alderman repre- senting each ward. A ward’s size is based on population. While aldermen represent the wards, they are elected at-large by all voters in the city. They serve two-year terms. Elected officials with four-year


terms are the mayor, city clerk, city attorney and district judge. The police chief, fire chief and treasurer are appointed positions. City offices are located in the Municipal Building, 720 S. Hicko- ry St., unless otherwise noted. Mountain Home has a 1 percent


city sales tax. Half the revenue goes to the Street Department, $350,000 goes to the Water and Sewer Department, and the re- mainder goes to the General Fund. The total sales tax in Moun- tain Home is 8.5 percent — 6.5 percent state, 1 percent county and 1 percent city.

City Treasurer Treasurer Deborah Cotter


is responsible for being the custodian of the city’s budget and tax funds. She processes city payroll, accounts payable and the employees’ retirement system, and prepares financial state- ments. The treasurer also pro- vides financial planning for the city. » 425-5945
