Fire Department Mountain Home Fire De-


partment provides fire and rescue services to almost 19,000 people living in the 54 square miles of Mountain Home’s city limits and the Mountain Home Rural Fire Protection District. A combination depart-


ment of full-time and volun- teer firefighters includes Fire Chief Ken Williams, Fire Inspector Gary Pyszka, an administrative assistant, 23 full-time firefighters and 10 paid-per-call volunteers. Mountain Home has a

Office rating in the city and a Class 4-10 in the rural fire district. Class 4 applies in the rural district to property located within 5 miles of a fire station. In addition to emergency


services, the department provides fire prevention pre-planning to businesses, fire prevention and educa- tion, hydrant inspections and fire drills upon request. It also provides low-income households with smoke de- tectors. The department will be taking over the mainte- nance of nine warning sirens within the city. The Mountain Home Fire


Department is dispatched jby the E-911 Center, which


dispatches all other Baxter County fire departments. The Mountain Home


department automatically responds with aid for struc- ture fires outside the city limits with Clarkridge and Buford fire departments, and it has mutual aid agree- ments with other surround- ing departments to provide aid upon request. The department has two


fire stations and a reserve station. Its equipment in- cludes five pumpers, a ladder truck, a heavy-rescue unit, a special response com- munications center, two tankers, two manpower units, two hazardous-waste trailers and a tower truck.
