created to handle the specific needs of an aging population. A nationwide search for the right physician is currently underway, so soon the team will be headed by a doctor dedicated to geriatric care. Geriatric medicine deals with seniors (those above the age of 65) and the preven-


tion and treatment of age-related illnesses. These can be fractures and loss of mobility caused by osteoporosis, blindness from macular degeneration, the ravages of diabetes, the neurological and physical effects of a stroke, or any of the other maladies that cause the elderly needing medical care to be admited to NCH. Gross’s team hopes soon to staff a standalone center for seniors to call with ques-
