News Rugby boost for special school
STUDENTS with special educational needs at Five Acre Wood School have been making the most of their new play area, The Wooden Spoon Woodland Towers. Made possible by a £20,000 do-
nation from the children’s rugby charity Wooden Spoon, the Wood- land Towerswere designed for the 260 students with profound, severe and complex needs at the special school in Loose. Bob Beney, former president of Maidstone Rugby,was guest of ho- nour at the opening of the towers, which was also attended by staff and students and representatives from Wooden Spoon. Bob said “It was a great honour
to be asked to open this play area. Meeting some of the students has been a very humbling experience and I amdelighted Wooden Spoon has been able to support them.” Jane Gardiner, fundraiser at the

school, said: “Wewanted to design something that every single one of our students could access. “It needed to be accessible and
safe for students with physical dis- abilities, but also to be exciting and provide a physical challenge for our more able students. Thanks to the support of Wooden Spoon, this has more than been achieved”.
AVEHICLE was stolen from The Malthouse, Barming. An office in Bircholt Road, Park Wood,
was broken into and furniture and equipmentwere damaged. Plantswere destroyed in the garden of a
home in Farleigh Lane, Fant. ANissan Primera parked in St Andrew’s
Road, Barming Heath,was set alight and burned out. Acar parked in a business car park in Cuxton Road, Park Wood, had its rear number plate stolen. The side curtains of a Renault lorry parked inWell Street, Loose,were slashed, but nothing appeared to have been taken. Itemswere stolen from the back of a van
in Hart Street, Fant. Avehicle parked in Worcester Road, Shepway,was damaged. Acar had its roof damaged in a parking
bay in Shortlands Green, Park Wood. AFord Transit parked in a driveway in Hereford Road, Shepway,was broken into. Nothing appeared to have been taken. Awindowwas smashed on a Ford Transit
van in Fant Lane but no accesswas gained. Awindowwas smashed at a home in Wrangleden Road, Park Wood. Ablue Micro Pro bicyclewas stolen from
a bike rack in Hart Street, Fant. Afront windowwas smashed at a home
in Beauworth Park, Shepway. Awindow in Tonbridge Road, Fant,was damaged when an objectwas thrown at it. Two youths smashed the window of a Citroen Saxo in Lynley Close, Park Wood. Awindowwas smashed at a home in Greenfields, Shepway. Abicyclewas stolen from Ruskin Grove,
Park Wood. Power tools and tyreswere taken from the
garage of a property in ChallockWalk. Awing mirrorwas damaged on a Kia Sportage in Market
Buildings.Aman described as white, about 5ft 8in tall, of slight build with blond hairwas seen causing the damage. Aman described as about 6ft tall, of slim
build with short dark brown hair,was seen smashing a shop window in King Street. An exterior lightwas stolen from a gazebo

the rear of a supermarket in Romney Place. Achild's BMX bikewas stolen from a park
in Loose Road. Two menwere seen behaving suspiciously
when glasswas damaged in a front door of a property in Upper Fant Road, Fant. The front window of a shop inWeek
Streetwas broken by one of a group of youths. Graffitiwas painted on awall in the basement of a block of flats in Hart Street, Fant. Abicyclewas stolen from a cycle rack in
Bank Street. An outbuilding in Upper Fant Road, Fant,
was damaged by youths. Abicycle has been stolen from outside a
shop inWeek Street. Avehiclewas stolen from Coombe Road. Apropertywas broken into in Knightrider Court.Abicyclewas taken from the garden of a property in Priory Road. The wheelswere taken from a bicycle in
King Street. The bodywork of a vehiclewas damaged in King Edward Road.Ablue and grey
Carrera bicyclewas stolen from a bike rack in the High Street. Two solar-powered lightswere stolen
from the garden of a home in Florence Road. Ablack Diamondback Outlook bicycle
was stolen from a bike rack in The Broadway, Fant. Achild's bicyclewas stolen from the rear
of a property in College Road. AVWGolf had its rear window smashed
in Bower Place, Fant. Gluewas used to damage a lock at a property in Brenchley Road. ACitroen C3was stolen from Woodford
Road, Fant, and later recovered crashed
nearby.Acar has been damaged, possibly with a rock, in RomanWay, Park Wood. Ahomewas broken into in CliffordWay,
Fant and a quantity of wine and champagne was stolen. Avehiclewas damaged in Campbell
Road. Ared Honda CG125 motorcyclewas
stolen from Reginald Road, Fant, and later recovered. Awheelwas stolen from a Ford Ka parked in Grecian Street. The wing mirrorwas knocked off a Suzuki Alto parked in Evelyn Road, Fant. Abrickwas thrown at a Mazda 6 which
was being driven in Tonbridge Road,
Teston.No damagewas
caused.Agrey Kraken 2011 mountain bikewas stolen from a building at Allington Locks.
