What inspired you in designing this room? The inspiration for our room came from the existing custom woodwork and built-in cabinetry. We chose to paint the room chocolate brown to create continuity within the Library.
What is your favorite aspect or element of this room and why? Kori’s favorite aspect of the room is the round center table. The table of wonder holds a unique sculpture, interesting found items from nature and books to spark curiosity. Nicole’s favorite element in the room is the bookcase, which displays many treasures and stories on its shelves.
Did you take a more technical or artistic approach in designing this space?
The Library has an architectural element of design with the existing bookcases. This lead us to use a more artistic approach in the way we layered our room to create a comfortable place to gather, as a couple by the fireplace or to hold a casual meeting with a client. We also used our technical skills to adhere to the principles of design in the furniture placement.
What is unique about your design?
Many times, a traditional Library is used as work space with a desk and chair. Our design is unique in that we showcase how the modern- day family may enjoy and entertain in a traditional library space. We achieved this with the contemporary art placed above the fireplace, the sisal rug and cowhide, and the accessories that create conversation. We see our client sitting beside the fire with a book and drink and enjoying the moment.
What did you enjoy most in designing this room? We enjoy working with the wonderful people at Shelter for Help in Emergency and the other key designers in the community. We are glad to give our time to create a space in the Design House that guests can enjoy which, in turn, raises money to benefit families with- in our community. It is also fun to highlight some of our own personal style and taste.
Did you encounter any challenges in designing this room? Furniture placement in this room really posed a challenge given the room’s two different sets of doors. We wanted to make sure we had a natural flow through the Library space.
Each designer has his or her own personality and style. How does your creative voice shine through? You can see our personal style and taste displayed within the objects and special items that we have collected in our travels.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your work as an interior designer? The most rewarding aspect of our job is working with an individual client. Formulating and executing a design that reflects that client’s needs, wants, and personality creates a space the family can be proud of.

What inspired you in designing this room? The built-in floor-to-ceiling cabinets as you enter the Master Suite along the entry wall reminded me of a European apartment, so I took this as inspiration to create my space in the style of a Paris salon.

What is your favorite aspect or element of this room and why? My favorite aspect of the space is the tall ceiling. I love the big open space it creates.
Did you take a more technical or artistic approach in designing this space? My approach is always artistic, especially in a bedroom. The space has to be dreamy and inviting.
What is unique about your design?
My unique style is mixing old and new pieces to make the room feel collected over time, not decorated off the shelf.
What did you enjoy most in designing this room? I enjoyed the transformation of the space and incorporating the bathroom and closet space into the salon scheme.
Did you encounter any challenges in designing this room? My challenge was where to place the bed. I couldn’t decide which wall I liked best. I played around with that the most!
Each designer has his or her own personality and style. How does your creative voice shine through? My creative voice is in the finished look. I feel my aesthetic is always a neutral, classic palette.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your work as an interior designer? I love my job…it’s not really like work when I am designing. I love to make people happy and satisfied with the finished project.
