was my time as a truck driver, realizing what most truck drivers make light of — calling these girls lot lizards — is not something to be made light of,” he said. “It made me ashamed that I made light of it. I would rather have been on the other side saying what can I do to help these girls. I was unable to do something because of my own ignorance.” Now, Partner is determined that the new


drivers coming out of Metro Community College’s program will know enough about what they see and what they can do about it to make a difference. “It’s very eye-opening for them,” he said.


“Tey say they really had no idea that’s what was going on.” His ultimate goal, he said, is to convince


the Nebraska legislature to pass a law requiring every truck driving school in the state to

include TAT training in their curriculum. Every student who’s graduated from the


CDL training program at Metro Community College in the last year has gone through the Truckers Against Trafficking training as well. A number of Nebraska-based companies,


including Werner Enterprises and Cubby’s truck stops, have also committed to put their drivers through TAT training, said TAT co- founder and executive director Kendis Paris.
