St George’s Day celebrations Various venues, Maidstone Join in with lots of celebrations around the town, including music and dance in Jubilee Square, Market Buildings, Fremlin Walk and the Museum. There will be live music,
children’s workshops, face-painting, street performers and much more.
April 30 and May 2 Bluebell and
wildflower walks, Sissinghurst Castle Garden Enjoy the high scent and colour of the season with a guided walk of the woodland,
led by the castle ranger. About 126 million bluebells will be in bloom, along with dozens of other wonderful wild flowers. Finish off the walk with a
cream tea in the restaurant. Tickets £12.50 per person including cream tea, booking essential on 0844 249 1895.

April 24 Kent’s All Ford Show, The Friars, Aylesford
An opportunity for all Ford car enthusiasts to meet and display their prides and joy – both cars and commercial. Refreshments available at the priory. Tickets £3. Children 16 and under free. 01622 717272 / 01732 840787. 10am-4pm.
May 1 - 3 Literary Festival Chiddingstone Castle A new event for bookworms of all ages, set in the glorious house and grounds of Chiddingstone Castle. The programme offers author events for adults and teenagers on the Sunday, events for families and
children on Bank Holiday Monday and a whole day of events dedicated to
schools on the Tuesday. In addition to author talks,
there will be drama, story- telling, children’s theatre, music, illustrations and performance poetry. Writers and performers include Juliet Nicholson, Janet Ellis, Erin Kelly, Andrew Lownie, Francis Beckett, Lady Antonia Fraser, Sandy Gall, Major Richard Streatfeild and Downton Abbey’s Robert Bathurst (pictured). Tickets for each event on
the Sunday and Monday are priced at £12 for adults and £5 for children, including entry into the castle and its collections. Online ticket booking is
available via the castle website. Tickets for the school
