Giving the citation for Loretto was Dr Terry Maguire who described her as being passionate, dedicated and innovative having been involved in a many and varied projects with Building the Community Pharmacy Partnership (BCPP) and Co-operation and Working Together (CAWT) and Women’s Aid, in areas as diverse as: diabetes, mental health, having a healthy pregnancy and violence. All this work, he said, demonstrates an exceptional commitment and dedication to the local community.
“Over the past 38 years, Loretto’s passion for pharmacy, the patient and the community has not diminished. She is supported tonight as she has throughout her career by her husband Dermot and her growing family,” he said.

Speaking after receiving her award, Loretto said, “Initially, I was very overwhelmed to receive this award and that then turned to being very proud,” she said.
“I am especially proud and delighted to receive this award as it has been a nomination from my peers and colleagues. I was having a lovely, relaxing evening and was very much enjoying watching the other winners tonight collect their trophies as I really was not expecting this but it is very welcome and I am humbled to receive it.”
Presented by Chris Roddy, Account Manager, Community Pharmacy, EMIS Health said, “We have been involved in supporting this award for the last three years and we look forward to the evening each year. This is a great achievement for Loretto and is very well deserved. We look forward to continuing to support this award in future years to come.”
