qualifiers. Soon he was approved by all registries that could accept his pedigree. As a breeding stallion, over 100 of his offspring made it to the Grand Prix ring. Mostly jumpers, about 20 in dressage and he maintained a top ranking for hunter offspring in the U.S. His get exhibited the versatility he had shown he possessed. He produced 19 licensed and approved stallion sons and is found in the dam line of at least 10 more. Pablo was one of the few standing in the U.S. to make both German Verband top lists: jumpers as well as riding horse type. In addi- tion, he was selected for the jumper breeding program. He was the jumper stallion who could pass on his elegant type and movement, resulting in many inspection site champions. Pablo started his career with Anton Bockmann in the

Oldenburg region. He also stood in Sweden, where during the three-year-old national testing he had five qualifi- ers and one mare with the highest overall and jumping scores nationwide. Pablo came to the U.S. as a 15-year- old. After sustaining a bad tendon injury in quarantine, he defied the odds to fully recuperate and continue a prolific breeding career. His unequaled production record speaks for itself, but

his exceptional and gentle character will be missed by those who knew him best. We will miss him sticking his head out his stall to greet everybody entering our barn and the polite and gentle way he loved to take carrots with his lips after making faces nobody could resist, which made him the favorite of even the non-horsey visitors to our farm.

Royal Prince (1999-2015) Rohdiamant x Prince Thatch XX x Wenzel I Hilltop Farm, Inc. Colora, Maryland

Royal Prince was reserve champion at both his 30- and 70-day perfor- mance tests, earning 10s for rideability and walk, and 9s for trot, canter and willingness to

work. As a five-year-old, he won the East Coast Selec- tion Trials for the World Championships for Young Horses with an unprecedented score of 9.82. Royal Prince twice represented the U.S. at the FEI World Championships for Young Horses, including a fourth place finish at age five. This is still the highest finish by any American-owned horse to date. Royal Prince won reserve championships at the BLM Finals at Third and Fourth levels, was a

reserve champion for USDF Region 1 at Fourth Level, and competed through Prix St. Georges. Royal Prince was the USEF Dressage Breeding Sire of the Year for five consecu- tive years. Royal Prince had a kind, outgoing nature. He was

quick to greet any visitors and loved attention. He was a horse with an enormous heart and willingness to work. Almost a year later, it still seems like a part of Hilltop is missing without him in the barn. (Frozen semen from Royal Prince is still available.)

Stanislavsky (2000-2015) Dehere x Spinet Jump Start Farm, Lexington, Kentucky

Stanislavsky was a graded stakes- winning Thor- oughbred. He produced success- ful horses on the track, as well as for eventing and hunters. His best

qualities, besides his beauty, were his willingness, gentle- man’s politeness, and easygoing way about him, which he generously passed onto his offspring. His kind heart always shined through. “Rest in peace, Stan.”

Zito (2004-2015) E.H. Hennessey x Zierde (Schwalbenzug *E*) Almost Famous Farm, State College, Pennsylvania

This Trakehner was bred by Mae Jean Fichter and was sent to Pennsylvania as a three-year-old to be started under saddle. From the moment he arrived, it was apparent that he was an extraordi-

nary horse. Whether turned out with his broodmares, his gelding friends or other young horses, he was personable and kind. He loved to jump and be ridden around the farm, and also loved giving “pony rides” to young riders. His intelligence, gentle personality and athleticism are all traits that he has passed along to his foals. Zito competed in the hunter ring through the 3’3” perfor-

mance division and was approved in 2014 by the American Trakehner Association. He will be forever missed at Almost Famous Farm and by all who knew him. (His frozen semen is available through Select Breeder Services.)
