An Example of Cumano’s Offspring: This is Chivas Z, a 1999 Zangersheide gelding by Cumano and out of a mare by Lord Gotthard. He was ridden by Ashlee Bond until Richard Spooner took over the ride in 2012 and became part of his international string. Bond said that she felt like she was flying when riding Chivas.
Base of Neck – well above point of shoulder for additional lightness of the forehand. Overall – built to be a grand prix jumper.
Cumano’s international career was impressive. He won
the Grand Prix in Calgary in 2004 and also competed in the Olympics that year at Athens for Belgium. He won the 2006 World Equestrian Games and claimed the silver medal at the European Championships in Mannheim in 2007. He is pictured at the 2008 Olympics in Hong Kong where he ranked ninth. Due to his semen not shipping well, he has fewer offspring than others of his ilk.
