Barbara Schmidt and her husband, Frederick Abblett, and he stood at stud for many years at Bridlewood Farm. Not being content out of the spotlight, the good-natured

Guarantor became an ambassador for the Hanoverian breed. He appeared many times at Equine Affaire in both Colum- bus, Ohio and Springfield, Massachusetts and at Equitana in Louisville, Kentucky where he was always a crowd favorite, enjoying the attention of his many admiring fans. As a sire, Guarantor’s offspring have enjoyed continued

success in the dressage arena. Some of his noted offspring include Grand Prix competitor Glissade, successful Prix St. Georges competitor Good News, third level champion Gotcha, as well as Goalkeeper, USDF champion second level Horse of the Year over 355 qualifiers. Golden Galaxy was USDF Breeders Series and AHS young horse (colt/geld- ing) year-end champion. He also sired dozens of dressage champions, mainly shown by their amateur/adult owners, a testament to their sire’s outstanding temperament. Guarantor passed away at the venerable age of 33 at

Bridlewood Farm. His kind and generous nature will be missed by all of his many admirers.

Istoso (1990-2015) Carapau x Wembley Baroque Farms USA, Harrodsburg, Kentucky

Istoso, a Lusitano stal- lion bred by Dr Guil- herme Borba in Portu- gal, was 25 when he passed and had been with me (JP Giacomini) for 19 years. He was by Carapau (linebred to Martini, champion of champions of the Lusitano breed) and Xistosa (by Wembley),

who produced a Portuguese Dressage Team horse called Landim (by my old stallion Novilheiro, who was British show jumping champion with John Whitaker). Istoso died on May 8, 2015 from a seizure. He was in

perfect health and worked every day as a schoolmaster. He knew all the Grand Prix movements and taught passage and piaffe to scores of students from many countries. I had a premonition the last few years that he might not

last in spite of his excellent health and so I bred him a lot and now have a collection of very nice colts and fillies from him. My new dressage horse JP Zuperstar is the last live colt from the Istoso x Sultana cross. Sultana, a pure Bocado PRE, was our foundation mare. She produced many excellent broodmares for us and very few colts. Her first foal, Adonia (herself a great producer), is the dam of my Grand Prix horse JP Orion and several other excellent

dressage horses, both in the U.S. and Canada. Her first and last offspring were by Istoso. Istoso’s last filly out of a daughter of Sultana was born

this spring and looked very special from the moment she was born. Istoso outdid himself as a stud, as many of his babies are even better than he was. We have three young stallions by him and JP Zuperstar has already produced an amazing colt who impressed the RPSI inspection team by his super movement. I last rode Istoso the day before I left for a California clinic.

He did a few multiple canter pirouettes (his specialty), a little passage and I put him away. He was a great professor in spite of a shaky start in life and a bad accident as a colt. When he fell from his seizure in his stall, he had his ears pricked up, galloping in his dream and calling to his mares. And then he passed away in a final neigh, still majestic. He rests in peace next to Sultana under a tree on the hill. He lives on in the memory of all the riders he taught so patiently.

Legend of Playboy (1996-2015) Jewels Paintedlegend x Missouri Playboy Oakwood Farm Thoroughbreds, New Haven, Missouri

Playboy was a registered APHA (American Paint Horse Association) dun tobiano stallion who became a wonderful addition to our breed- ing program by adding color and trainability

when we crossed him with our Thoroughbred mares. Over time, he sired numerous winning children’s and

amateur’s eventers, show and fox hunters, and Pony Club and polo mounts when crossed with a Thoroughbred. With easy sweet temperaments, Playboy foals guaranteed fami- lies both a pet and a winning show horse with flashy color. Only a few offspring remain available as broodstock or sport prospects. Playboy is greatly missed!

Pablo (1988-2015) Pilot x Matrox x Lancelot Rainbow Equus Meadows, Lincoln, California

Pablo was a licensing champion as well as reserve champion at his performance test, with many 9s awarded for movement, rideabil- ity, jumping and more. He scored 138.21 for dressage and 129.11 for jumping. He bred many hundreds of mares and his first crop pro- duced nine Bundeschampionat
