The Heathrow-based International Consolidated Airlines Group flew to the top of the region’s large company share price table in September after announcing that group traffic the previous month, measured in revenue passenger kilometres, increased by 8.6% compared to the previous year.
Group capacity measured in available seat kilometres rose by 6.1% and premium traffic for the month increased by 8.7%.
A major strategic development was that Aer Lingus has now become part of IAG – the holding company of British Airways, Iberia and Vueling – after shareholders representing 98.05% of the existing issued share capital accepted IAG’s offer.
Big Yellow Group, the Bagshot-based outfit which currently has 83 self storage locations across the UK and
London for personal and business storage, saw its shares rise 7%.
Biggest riser among medium-sized companies was McBride, which announced results for the year to June showing operating profits up 4% to £28.5 million. It launched its transformation plan of “Repair, Prepare, Grow” with the ambition of becoming the leading European manufacturer and supplier of co-manufactured and private label products for the household and personal care market.
Star performance came from the sub-£50m turnover section, where IS Solutions at Sunbury- on-Thames saw shares rise 39%. Initially involved in hardware sales and facilities management, it has since expanded through software development, the Internet and acquisitions.
