• Withy King has expanded its commercial property offering in Oxford with the appointments of senior associate Julie Acock, who will head the team, and solicitor David Lane. Acock, who has spent the past 20 years working in legal practice, is particularly known for her expertise in the retail and licensed trade sectors, including buying and selling premises, landlord and tenant work and property development. Lane will work
closely with Acock in a role that includes helping business owners to acquire, dispose of and manage land interests and acting for lenders in protecting their investments. Messer, who lives in Woodley, has 25 years' experience in commercial litigation and is a specialist in advising people affected by shared appreciation mortgages, a type of loan available in the 1990s where borrowers have to repay their loan plus up to 75% of the increase in value of their home. Prior to joining Gardner Leader, Hilary was head of the dispute resolution team for an Oxfordshire-based
law firm. Her appointment also follows the recent arrival of Niamh Minihane, associate solicitor in the inheritance protection team in Maidenhead, and the promotion of Fiona Tighe, head of its property team, to partner.
