• Be bolted directly to the casting • Allow for lifting and rotation through 90 degrees for transportation


• Allow for lifting and accurate alignment to shaft line for final installation


• Designed to DNV offshore lifting regulations and standards


OTHER RELEVANT REQUIREMENTS In addition to the hub lifting equipment the company also designed, fabricated and load tested the lifting beam and rigging spread for the Nacelle lift. Here, highly eccentric cog conditions made for a challenging design case with over 80% of the nacelle’s circa 450 Te weight being carried through one end of the lifting beam only.

RECENT CONTRACT


Recently they were contracted to design and fabricate a series of lifting beams for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to assist with the installation of their prototype Sea Angel turbine at an environmentally sensitive test site in Hunterston, Scotland.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES When on site, MMC were then asked to attend and oversee the assembly and use of the lifting equipment as well as carry out third party reviews on the lifting and logistics operations on behalf of the site lease owners, SSE.


This included advice on mooring arrangements, review of lifting and handling procedures and liaison with the local port authority on acceptable marine operations within the local environmentally sensitive site.
