COMPANY TAKES FLIGHT

Making the change from Aerospace to join the wind energy sector James Barry joins Renewable Parts Ltd. Coming from Aerospace giant Rolls-Royce, James was Senior Vice President of Customer Strategy and Marketing. In October he takes up the position of CEO of Renewable Parts Ltd.

BACKGROUND

With a background in Aerospace Engineering James’ career with Rolls Royce spanned 25 years where he undertook a variety of global roles from engineering to marketing, sales and strategy. Since 2005 he has led major sales campaigns winning significant OE and aftermarket business on Airbus and Boeing aircraft.

GREAT APPEAL

When asked about the move to RPL James explained “The ability to read across my Aerospace experience to this young and fast moving sector has great appeal. Scratch beneath the surface and the similarities are quite striking – technology is rapidly developing; growth is strong and I see a huge opportunity to make a difference.

SIMILAR BUSINESS MODELS “The industries also share similar business models where investments are recouped over long lifecycles and the aftermarket is key. This is where Aerospace has seen some of the greatest advances. Improved service levels, inventory management and diagnostic systems have contributed to efficiency improvements, boosting asset availability and reducing cost of ownership. I believe that in these areas the wind energy sector can reap much benefit.”

DRIVING INNOVATION “Driving innovation into the aftermarket will increase economic lives for new and older generation equipment, boosting owners’ investments and making the sector an increasingly attractive place to be.

“I believe RPL is extremely well placed to lead some of this change and I’m delighted to come on-board at this exciting time.”
