PHILANTHROPIC HIGHLIGHTS: THE BELL SOCIETY A Love of Books that Endures
Lou Fernandez, parent of Matt Fernandez ’12 and Mark Fernandez ’16, was a fixture in the life of OES and its libraries. He gave countless hours of support to FOESL — Friends of Oregon Episcopal School Libraries — in its charge to support OES’s three divisional libraries. After Lou passed away in 2011, contributions to FOESL in his memory from OES community members provided the impetus for creating a library fund in Lou’s name.
Fully established with additional support from his wife, Linda Blakely, The Lou Fernandez Library Endowment supports author visits and guest lecturers. It was inaugurated last Spring with the first Lou Fernandez Literary Festival. The endowment is an open fund capable of receiving contributions from community members interested in supporting OES’s library programs.
Thank you to the Fernandez family for this touching and meaningful tribute to Lou and to the enduring power of the written word.

SOCIETY OES

THE BELL SOCIETY The Bell Society honors and recognizes individuals who have either established an endowment during their lifetime and/or provided for OES through their estate plans. Endowment funders, planned givers, and donors contributing to an endowed fund are instrumental to building the OES Endowment, providing stable funding for the school and supporting an array of needs such as student financial aid, faculty salaries, and enrichment programs.
