In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised to run across social media images of Jay Z pouring bottles of Filipa Pato, Calcário Tinto 2010 Bairrada over adoring young ladies during his parties. Okay, maybe Portuguese wines won’t ever reach the status ofDom Perignon, but Portugal’s image of producing only sweet wines— like Port—is quickly changing. It’s no wonder; the country has been actively producing wines since the Holy Roman Empire. Talk about an old trend becom-


ing relevant again, Portugal is rightfully taking center stage with its beautiful and complex wines. Rustic and sexy… and fun to try and pronounce. The Patio on Goldfinch is currently pouringMonte Velho, Alentejano Field Blend, simply delicious and interesting. Whatever you may be drinking at the moment, remember that the company in


which you share it, is the other half of the experience. The most amazing cocktails or wines, become nothing more than cool stories to tell your friends when they should be cool experiences that have been shared with friends. Trends come, go and circle back again. Why not start your own? All it takes is a little innovation.
