editor’s letter whatwe hold dear. T Linda James

I amalways heartened to listen as young dancers with twinkling eyes relate howthey have grown season after season in productions of The Nutcracker. Invariably their tale beginswith their

role as amouse or a party guest. And as theymature as performers, their increasing prowess leads to their being cast in the roles of Spanish,Arabian, andChinese dancers. They swellwith pride to tell you that this year; they are dancing inWaltz of the Flowers. It’s no wonder that the holiday favorite has become a classic.Memories of these performances last a lifetime.

Last year I tookmy niece and a neighborhood child to The Nutcracker. Iwas rewardedwith their excitement and joy as they watched the ballet unfold. Their elation as they experienced The Nutcracker for the first time fedmy soul. I encourage you to treat a young child to one of themetroplex’s holiday performances. Your enjoyment of the seasonwill be renewed.
