Successful first edition of Forest Romania

rofessional forestry in Romania has gained a longed-for meeting place at Zizin and the exhibitors were reported to be thrilled with the first edition of Forest Romania organised by Elmia AB of Sweden and DLG of Germany in Transylvania from 16-18 September. Those taking part praised the trade fair’s concept of focusing exclusively on the professional primary forest industry. Having such a highly targeted industry fair is a totally new approach for the Romanian market, which attracted just over 1,600 visitors. “During my four years at this company we’ve never before participated in a trade fair that has given us so many valuable customer contacts,” said Ovidiu Stanciulescu, Product Manager at Terra România. The company sells machinery and equipment for timber transport and handling, but also operates in the construction sector.
“I believe in this fair as being an important one for the future,” agreed Anders Strömgren, who is in charge of John Deere’s independent dealers in the European market. John Deere’s Romanian

in Germany. The skidder is not part of John Deere’s own product range, but was shown at the request of its distributors. Timberhawk’s nine- tonne weight makes it considerably lighter than American skidders and it has a winch. Its measurements and weight are based on the Timberjack 240C.
“It was developed to suit the Southern European market, so the timing to exhibit it here at Forest Romania was perfect for us,” added Strömgren. “We believe this is a good way to complement the range of machines we offer via our distributors.”
One of the fundamental concepts behind Forest Romania is that new technology should be shown in operation so that visitors can see with their own eyes how it works. “The visitor interviews done during the fair reveal that this aspect was greatly valued,” said Anamaria Deliu, Forest Romania Project Manager. “Visitors gave the fair high marks across the board and gave the very highest marks to the demonstrations on the forest trail.”
The next Forest Romania trade fair will be held in September, 2017.
