Integrated roll forming solution concept for tubes and pipes

reduce expenses significantly by preventing machine down time, material testing, new roll production and increased operator time. COPRA® FEA RF provides simulation by means of non-linear elastoplastic calculation for a variety of possible problems tube and pipe manufacturers of today are facing. Furthermore, in times of

various industry fields, while the requirements of each line of business vary greatly. These different specifications call for verified manufacturing strategies tailor made for the respective job definitions. At Pipe & Tube Osaka in July, Lander Arrupe of data M presented an integrated roll forming solution concept consisting of four parts regarding design and simulation of the entire roll forming process as well as devices for quality control of roll tools and tubes.

COPRA® RF covers the complete engineering process with flower design, calculation and tube design among others. In modern tube production, the same roll tooling is used by default for multiple thicknesses. COPRA® RF automatically recalculates the new roll position for a new wall thickness without any manual adaptation. Furthermore, the use of High Strength and Ultra High Strength steels in combination with reduced wall thicknesses pose a big challenge to tube manufacturers of today. The design and machine setup is thus mostly conducted as a high

cost “trial and error”-operation, while simulation of the entire roll forming process would

strict requirements regarding tolerances, integrated optical measuring systems are in increasing demand. COPRA® RollScanner and COPRA® ProfileScan Desktop round off the package by offering accurate optical measuring of roll tools as well as profiles with full integration into the COPRA® workflow.

In 1975, MAC led the way in flux leakage testing

Forty years ago, MAC engineers introduced Rotoflux®, a new test system that could detect ID/OD defects in heavy- wall magnetic tubular products.

Today, MAC’s high-speed flux leakage systems are the benchmarks for OCTG testing throughout the world.
