St Kilda and the Outer Hebrides The Glen Etive

10-night cruise, one departure each in June and July / Price per person: £4500

Situated on the very edge of the Atlantic Ocean, the Outer Hebrides is a chain of inter- connected islands with their own unique way of life. Following a stopover at Canna, the itinerary takes in the far-flung Isles of Barra, Mingulay and the Uists with their endless shell- sand beaches fringed with flowering machair. Given good weather, St Kilda will be the next stop, with the intention to stay for two nights exploring the Archipelago. Depart St Kilda for the Sound of Harris and its stunning sea vistas of thousands of small islands. Visits to the wild Shiant Islands, Isle of Skye and the Small Isles complete an unforgettable trip.

Typical Stopovers and Anchorages: • The Isle of Canna: With high sea cliffs and tiers of basalt pillars, Canna is the most striking of the “Small Isles”. The island is renowned for its seabirds

• The Isle of Barra: Anchor in Castlebay with Kisimul Castle providing a dramatic presence • Mingulay: Uninhabited apart from grey seals and thousands of sea birds, Mingulay has a beautiful horseshoe beach. Walk through the deserted village and listen to the singing of the seals as they come ashore each night

• St Kilda: Cruise through the Sound of Harris to the archipelago of islands, St Kilda, with an overnight stay in Village Bay, on the main island of Hirta. The islands are home to the largest gannetry in the world, with 60,000 pairs. Go ashore to explore Hirta and its history and archaeology. Before departing St Kilda, cruise the immense stacs, home to thousands of seabirds

• The Sound of Harris & Berneray. The scattered small islands within the Sound of Harris provide spectacular scenery, especially with a gorgeous westerly sunset for which the area is famed

• The Shiant Islands: A Mini-St Kilda. To anchor here provides a true sense of wild beauty. The grassy slopes and sheer cliffs are home to many thousands of seabirds

• The Isle of Skye: Arriving at Dunvegan explore the Castle and Gardens. Cruise to Loch Scavaig with the dramatic backdrop of the Cuillins providing a breathtaking anchorage

• The Isle of Rum: Rum is of international importance for its natural habitat and wildlife. The Rum Cuillin Mountains are the remains of a huge, ancient volcano
